Self Confidence & Appearance

Self confidence is the majority of people’s enemy in their teen years, boy or girl. With all the social media sites and selfies and what not, we expose ourselves to a lot of hate.

Body, Figure
Your figure is something everyone can see and that’s why I think so many people get judged on it. Both guys and girls often go through phases of not being happy with themselves in their teenage years. Personally, I think that we all would be happy with ourselves without Instagram and Tumblr. I think in a lot of cases, it’s the people who are not happy with themselves that will make the horrible comments. If they’re not confident, they’ll use social media as platforms to let out what I can only see as being jealousy.

Clothes
Clothes can be used as an excellent way to express yourself when you’re a teenager and in other cases to hide yourself. Even little things like the arguments people have that if you’re not a Nirvana, Rolling Stones, Ramones or Pink Floyd fan then you can’t wear the t-shirt. Clothes should be worn as a way of making you feel confident. Many people get comments made if they go out in a cropped top and shorts but you should be very proud if you go out in an outfit like that, as it takes a lot of confidence. If you’re wearing a tracksuit because it makes you feel confident and like you then go for it! If you’re wearing ripped skinny jeans and a band t-shirt because it expresses you and makes you feel comfortable, then go for it.

Makeup
Makeup is a fun thing to do and try out etc but some people feel they need it, many people use makeup for confidence and they shouldn’t therefore receive hate comments about it. Makeup should be used to make someone feel more confident in themselves as that is the most important thing. It shouldn’t be used to hide ‘Flaws and Imperfections’ as there’s no such thing. You may feel comfortable wearing only mascara as that’s what you might want to make you feel nice, others might want to wear foundation & red lipstick. It’s not your place to comment, as your face is the one thing everyone sees, even people you’ve never spoken to, so I understand that people may feel like they’re being judged or people think they’re ‘ugly’.

But honestly, there’s no such thing as ugly, if you’re not someone’s ‘type’ then why does that matter? They’re obviously not made for you so just look past them. As long as you feel confident and happy in yourself, that’s all that matters and that’s all that you need to make you a little bit happier each day.
-Self confidence has a massive impact on your life, whether it be anxiety about meeting new people or going for job interviews etc.

Next time think about it before you give someone hate on the way they look and I hope this helps some of you.
