A Lesson Learnt

Today, me and my Dad set out headed for Kinder Scout National Park. My dad had an idea in his head of a picture he wanted. So, we headed out armed with a Nikon P510, a tripod and some energy bars.

We parked and started the walk but took a brief stop while we fell in love with a cat:

We carried on, it got steeper and steeper but we eventually got to the spot we wanted.

We had a few ‘We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it, oh no we’ve got to go through it’ moments.

We set up but there was no sign of the sun. It was so dull. No neutral density filters were helping us. So after a while, a few changes of positions and a lot of almost falling in manure, we headed back.

We walked and walked back to the car after a failed attempt.

But I had this to keep me going:

We spent the whole morning trying but didn’t get any good results. But that’s what photography’s about. Sometimes it just won’t “happen”. We went with an idea of a picture but the only good pictures I took were of the cat and a spiders web.

What we went for didn’t happen, but I came away with some other pictures I like and a lesson learnt.

+ RIP to my shoes
